because there's a baby.

funny when you get to a point in life when Friday and Saturday nights mean absolutely nothing to you;) I used to count down the minutes to Friday EVERY week. Starting Monday, I was sending out emails to see what we were going to do. Where we were going to go.

not so much anymore! That could have something to do with the fact that I'm 8-1/2 months pregnant. OR that I've matured a weeeee bit. OR that my work schedule has me working most weekends. Regardless...I'm not complaining:) I love that things have slowed down and that I have someone (Jacob) that feels just as content being home as I do:)

POINT: we finished the baby room this weekend! Feels good to have the 'majority' done. And I say majority cause there are a few things I still need to get:
1/ knobs for the dresser
2/ book stops for the baby's book collection
3/ a brighter light
OTHERwiseeeee. We're set:)

UP before

DOWN after

from day 1, our main goal has been to keep things simple. Low key. SIMPLE. And as you can see...it got full fast. But I really do love how it turned out:)

i hung a little mirror that Jacob's mom made us for Christmas.

UP before

DOWN after

while I was doing that...Jacob hung a rod and baskets that I had gotten from IKEA.

UP before

DOWN after

i really think these baskets are going to come in super handy. They are hung right next to the dresser...which will have the baby changing pad on it soon! Then things will be right within my reach when I'm on diaper duty:)

i also used some of the decor I had made for the Baby Shower to make a little mobile for the crib. Because I had the kiddo's help me make some of the decoration...I hated the idea of throwing it away.

i'm still not 100% sure it's working. Maybe it's a bit...too much!? Too...busy!? But Jacob liked it and I thinkkkkkk I like it too:)

UP before

DOWN during

UP/DOWN after

and that my friends was...part of our weekend. There was also walking, napping, swollen feet, workkkkkk:(, more napping and a large...large amount of panacake consumption:)

rub it on your lips

i'm a lover of 'favors'.

wedding shower - bottles of homemade wine for each guest:

wedding - cupcakes and seriously perfect/hilarious buttons:

and now the baby shower!!!

baby shower - organic lip balm:

ingredients: cocoa butter, pure vitamin E oil, honey, essential oil(s), sweet almond oil, adorable containers...and wine:)

i purchased all the ingredients at a local Planet Earth store and the cute little containers on Ebay.

my sister, Pigg, was pretty hardcore about making lip balm. I thought - lets just wing it...throw this and that in there and see how it goes. Um, no you piece of shit. You'll do it by the book or not at all;)
BUT thanks to her, we got it done right:) I knew she'd be perfect for the job!!!

PS. we got through it without her making me cry ONCE;)

i found a pretty simple recipe via eHow and that's what we followed. It looked easy and ended up being even that much easier to make! And a little goes a longggg way! I think we still have at least 10 or more left over out of the 50 we made!

using potatoes, I cut out the heart shape and used the kids' paints to stamp some tags! THEN I put Courts, and her perfect penmanship, to work;)

UP work harderrrrrrr!!! WORK FASTERRRRRRR!!!!;)

and I think they were a hit! At least I hope they were a hit. But regardless...like the wine and cupcakes...we always seem to pick something we don't mind having leftovers of;)

showered:)

saturday was the Baby Shower!!!:):) AH, good times were had!

as you can see from the photo below...there were presents. Oh, so many:) I can never believe how generous people are and it surely makes me feel like I need to step up the giving a bit! The giving didn't just stop there....I got cards in the mail, PRESENTS in the mail, books in the mail, not to mention the whole other baby shower my wonderful coworkers threw for me.
Remember the 'crying' on Sunday!? I'm sure all this goodness had something to do with that too:)

i can't thank everyone enough for making it such a wonderful day!

my mom surprised me and ordered an ADORABLE cake! The colors/design matched the invitations to the Baby Shower, as did that freaking hippo. LOVE! And on top of all that...it wasn't just good to look at. It tasted amazing:)

if you're ever in the need for some amazing treats - Party Time Cakes - is the place to go!!:)

UP lady Karey made some adorable onsies...being that one of my favorite words happpppens to be a bad one...she cleaned it up a tad and put it on a onsie. I can envision the baby coming home in this and a yoda hat;)

okay. I have the craftiest friends IN theeee Worlddddd:) Besides getting a huge amount of the essentials. Thank gawdddd. We got a LOT of great homemade items. Man. Sometimes people are all "I'm gonna make something and it will be amazing", and then it's SO not amazing - or is that just me that makes shitty crafts?;) And in this case...every thing that was homemade...really was amazing and perfect for US:)

UP (L to R)
row1: we got the Sophie Giraffe from Jacob's cousin in NYC. I have to admit...I've had my eye on one of these and was SO happy to have gotten it!!!:), some goodies and a perfect baby bath tote, our DIAPER BAG...YAY:)
row2: essentials for my stay at the hospital...Spree's and all:), a Yoda rattle and hat (which we received yesterday!!!:), baby booster seat!

UP my great aunt - is that right?!:) - Joyce, made this beautiful little afghan!!!:)

UP an organic hippo. Be Still My Heart:)

the house got pretty packed but I think it was JUST right! And even though we had plenty of kiddo's in attendance...they all stayed in the baby room. Either playing with each other or on my computer. SO they kept pretty quiet for the whole afternoon! Thank you kids. Thankkkk youuuuu;)

austyn was our little artist that day! We received some homemade fridge magnets (freaking cute!) and they put together some cute names for the baby;)
She also posed with the AWESOME diaper hippos Karey made! I seriously can't bring myself to take them apart. They're too awesome!

and austyn was just too sweet, writing notes for the baby room:)

on the invite we asked that people contribute a book to Baby Smith's first library. And that was SUCH a huge success. I would recommend everyone, who has a love for books, to do this. We got SO many books and my friend made little sticker tags for people to sign and put in the book - of course I forgot to get a photo of this. Oops. BUT they're adorable. Trust me:)

this, much anticipated, day flew by:( But a few of us stayed after to dig through all the presents and separate things and have some wine (Sparkling Wine for me:). It was a fabulous way to end an already fabulous day:)

week 31:)

we've arrived at week Thirty ONE:) Wowza. I don't have a ton to report. There seems to be a LOT going on. Which has really overwhelmed me. Not all in a bad way. But when you feel slower and biggerrrrr and way more tired...things seem to overwhelm a bit quicker. LIKE the fact that our living room is filled with baby baby...and MORE baby stuff. Crib, dresser, gifts, blankets (and more blankets:). And it's just a hot mess over here right now as we try and get this baby room done in record time. 7 days. FOR REAL!?!?!?

yes. We started the baby room Saturday and the goal is to have it done by...this Saturday for my Baby Shower with friends and family:) And you bet...it WILL be done!:)
Sneak Peek below:)

POINT: things are going well. It's starting to become more obvious to me - and probably those around me;) - that I'm pregnant. Say what?!

maybe I'm walking a bit slower, I always sound like I'm doing squats while I'm on the phone (the heavy breathing is super hot), dropping things is just something I do now...I drop it...I stop and stare at it...determine how important it is...and then I move on. Needless to say, most things that were dropped were deemed unimportant - the floors are littered with random shit;)

9 more weeks my friends and there will be a baby in our midst. This. Is. Exciting:)

due date
may 10, 2012:)

boy or girl
still feeling it's a girl...although, the room color now looks more 'boyish'...if you want to label it that way. BUT I'm loving it for our girl too:)

weight
no clue on the weight. I think because I lost those 3lbs., possibly...I went a little food crazy and ate my weight in...everything...for 3 days following that good news;) SO we may see a slighttttt gain at the next appt.:)

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN (so far): 31lbs.
UP i am still able to get my feet, belly and baby off the ground;)
PS. had to cut my face off cause Lia said it was 'disgusting'.
What would I do without their complete honesty? - cry less?!;).
I can't say I completely disagreed with her...my face looked about how you'd imagine a face would look that's trying to get 30 extra pounds into the air;)

wardrobe
as I've said before...I've gotten to the point where I just don't want to deal with hair ties around buttons and making sure my shirt is long enough to cover up the fact that my jeans are not buttoned OR zipped. Opps;)
Fact is...I just want to be comfy. SO normally Jacob wakes up underneath a pile of clothes because my entire closet is on the bed by the time I leave for work in the morning. It's been...challenging;)

baby buys
one baby shower down...ONE to go:) It has been....EXCITING! And I'm getting things in the mail and from coworkers and now friends and family. Jacob, me and this baby are insanely spoiled and loving it:)

we are forever grateful for the huge amount of generosity. We could NOT do this without you guys:)

we've gotten a lot of baby goods so far:

- walkie talkies (AKA. baby monitors;): they can go up to 2,000 feet. Which is insanity...and awesome;)
- health care kit: for cutting the little nails and brushing the teeth...anddddd other stuff?!
- boppy pillow!!! YAYYYY:)
- play pen

and as much as I know you all love hearing the details of the gifts...I'll keep it short;)

because of all these amazing gifts...we haven't had to buy anything in the last week or so. Once our 2nd shower is over on Saturday, we'll take a look at what we've received and make note of some things we'll still need and then the buyingggggg will begin;)

UP at the moment our house is a bit of a disaster. This is ONE teeny corner of the living room and it's filled to the brim with baby shit goodies:) And then add in a crib, dresser and cradle...the living room is not relaxing to me at the moment:(

and then there's the baby room. The baby room that we started only 6 days ago. Holy crap. It's been fun and a lot dumb. BUT mostly...fun...ish;)

keep in mind that we have gotten a bit further in our progress but didn't want to spoil the big reveal...coming soon:)

we can't wait till next week when I can put up some photos of the, mostly, finished baby room and some of the exciting things we'll be receiving at the Shower on Saturday!:)
