not too long ago I posted about wanting to make more time to read...and on that note, I'm penciling in a bath, glass of wine and some reading after Homer goes to bed tonight:). This IS my Birthday Week, after all;)

Epilogue

i'm currently reading Epilogue. So far, it's turned out to be a difficult read for me. It's quite beautiful but it really gets a person thinking and yesterday I watched a super sad episode of Grey's Anatomy and then started reading this book...let's just say that I met my crying quota for the entire year...all in one day;)

i'll report back on how it was when I'm finished:)

PS. it's about a woman who is widowed.

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?

this was a great read and I'd suggest it for anyone looking for something cute and light to get them through the rest of this cold weather:) I DO think, however, Tina Fey's book - Bossypants - was a better fit for me:) And now, if only, Amy Poehler would come out with her own book...that would jump to the top of my list!!!

lately I've been a bit too busy with blog posts and painting my nails (currently:) and trying to keep up with Instagram and Facebook and Twitter that I've forgotten my old friend: Reading:)

i recently ordered a few books for myself and Homer, in hopes that I'd get us all back on track! One of my Hopes for 2013 was to read more...for myself and at least once a day for Homer.

epilogue * you're different and that's super

i recently purchased Epilogue: A Memoir for myself and You're Different and That's Super for Homer. I will admit that I only got that book for Homer because of that amazing horse on the cover...and because he came from Jacob and I and that alone is going to make him veryyyyyy special. And I want him to be comfortable with that as soon as possible;)

this post by A Cup Of Jo was what had me adding Epilogue to my cart. I'm a sap for love stories:) I have a feeling it may be a difficult read for me, as I already have a hard time thinking too far into the future and fear (fear, like can't breath) any life without Jacob...but I'm excited to read Anne's story:)

like my friend, Just Dancin' in the Rain, I'm not an expert around the kitchen;) Some may even say that I should stay out of it;) BUT I feel the need to try and am hoping to purchase a new...hopefully, easy to use, cookbook in the near future:)

i borrowed this one from my Friend when I was on maternity leave...8 months ago...HOLY LORD. I finally started reading it last week and it's a really fun read! Reminds me of Tina Fey's, Bossy Pants -  took that on our Honeymoon to Spain and was great for beach reading:)

month 8:)

our boy is eight months old. 

humdy dum. How about that...he aged. Something I've, specifically, told him wasn't allowed. Already rebelling;)

sooooo is it weird that all I've been doing is thinking about death these last few weeks?!?!? Oh yeah. Shit just got deep;) I'm sure it's a whole slew of things:

- just recently closing on our brand new house (that also needs a much needed and expensive whole body make-over...like serious surgery folks;)

- now having 2 mortgages

- selling our car and becoming a one vehicle household

- i'll be turning 30 in just over 3 months

- my child is getting older by.the.minute and there's not a damnnnnn thing I can do about it and the other day I actually starting thinking about what I was going to do for his first birthday and then I passed out...or at least I think I did...I woke up somewhere in the house I didn't remember going (I KID!! I stopped doing that a few years back and it always involved Peach Schnapps;).

oh, Homer. How am I going to explain myself to you someday;)?

and Homer got a Wookie for Christmas from his Uncle Dave and even though that voice/sound coming from it is pure ridiculousness. It's pretty darn hilarious and I think we'll keep him;)

in all seriousness...I try not to think about such serious things, as death. EW. I don't even like saying that. But you have to acknowledge that time is passing by at a rapid pace and Homer has only turned up the speed!!! It's scary:( BUT should be a daily/constant reminder that this is it. We MUST make the best of it...and by make the best of it...don't settle and be HAPPY and do it all and do it well:)

something fun I do with Courts' kids when I pick them up from school is to ask them to tell me something positive that has happened to them that day. And now that we've been doing it for quite some time...they usually start blabbing positivity before I even ask;)

I can usually come up with something amazing to tell them about my day, like: I didn't have to work. It was nice enough for a walk. Homer slept through the night. I showered;)

But then one of the kiddos tells me that they're happy because they had amazing tater tots for lunch and we all high five and yeah...it don't get much better than that:)

i can't wait to do that with Homer:)

  

also...a few tidbits that we've been up to recently:

making Homer some healthy food. Which in turn, makes me feel like a super mom cause it is a bit of work but totally worth it:)

and I'm adding to Homer's book collection all the time! Most recently, You're Different and That's Super. Seeing as Homer came from the likes of Jacob and I...this book will probably come in handy;)

i love a good 'quote'...and I keep a running tab of the ones that really get to me - cue the tears:). And a LOT of them get to me lately...maybe that baby inside me has something to do with all that extra 'emotion'?!:)

so many great things happening here and makes me wish I could have picked this book making program from the beginning...I'm on my 2nd book. I started them (thanks to my cousin, Neen:) in 2009 and now have a 2009 and 2010 book. I love them...I tried 2 different photo book programs and of the 2, I actually like my iPhoto Book the best. But now I'm thinking I could give these a shot.

Especially for our Wedding and Honeymoon book. Then maybe back to the iPhoto Book for the 2011 book.

LOTS of books will be coming for 2011...it's just a huge year:)

to our baby. for all ages.

remember that weirdddd baby post I did recently?! NO...really?! HERE it is again;)

i was just showing/forcing (tomatoes/tomatoes;) Jacob to take a peek at my idea for our baby's 'I Was Born Party' and he (being THE best baby-daddy-to-be) came up with SUCH a great idea!

That idea being:

when we send out the invites to the baby's party, include a number 1 through 18. Those numbers would represent the age our baby will someday be. According to the number you are given/sent/assigned, you will bring a book that represents that age.

SO if you get age 1 (or any super young or toddler age) you'd get those cartoon books, Cat in the Hat, etc.

IF you got age 13, maybe you'd get something a bit more mature, Moby Dick or something...or a favorite of yours at that age.

anyways...I just thought this was a great and meaningful idea. As our child celebrates their birthday's, we will pick out the book off the shelf that represents that age and see who it was from and what message they left.

and if we have more than one baby...I'll obviously have to encourage people to give ONLY books so that all babies after baby 1 don't feel like huge book less losers:)

nottttt that I've given it any thought...at all....but I have a few ideas in mind for what I'd like for my 'future baby's shower:)'

i've even thrown around the idea of waiting till the baby comes so that we can all celebrate together WITH the baby. I've heard of people doing this and it actually sounds amazing...because:

- most people get the big things they need (crib, dresser, changing table, decor, diapers and other bigger baby related items) prior to the baby's arrival

- EVERYONE wants to see the baby and this will be the perfect way to keep people out of the hospital and look forward to a gathering somewhere cozy a few weeks after the baby is home!:)

SO it's definitely something I'm considering. But even with the date up in the air, I REALLY love the idea of a 'book' themed baby shower. How great is that!? I love love LOVE books and this would be a great way to add to our future library and get the baby started on some great reads! And I would love to read nightly to our little one. Awwwww...I know;)
