hung.

anyone else get a huge sense of accomplishment from putting ONE nail in the wall and hanging ONE photo?!

yes? Then you probably took a nap immediately after and didn't do shit the rest of the day. Anddddd we may have been separated at birth;)

ignore, if possible, the room itself. It's not been renovated. It knows not what it does.

here's to getting ONE thing done today:)

spot of tea.

in honor of this insanelyyyyyy shitty weather we're receiving in Wisconsin - what could we have done to deserve 37 degree...windy...rainy...overcast...snow-on-the-ground...weather on April 25th???? - I thought I'd share an adorable purchase I made a few weeks back.

this little tea pot, from Goodwill, was just shy of $6. I'llllll take it!!! Since cutting hours at my job, I've joined my sisters in drinking coffee about 4 mornings a week - yes...that's amazing:). But I still don't own a coffee maker - just a Kuerig, which we love:) We do have tea in the house and I'll have a cup every now and again. But I'd like to increase the frequency of my tea drinking and I feel this adorable little pot will help me do just that:)

i'm hoping that in a weeks time I'm posting about my new favorite hot-summer-day-alcoholic-beverage;)

cheers!:)

etsy hump day:)

homer's down for a nap and after a morning of online shopping - only for a few decorations and such for his upcoming FIRST birthday:):) - it got me thinking about more fun things...

etsy things:)

1
i adore all these prints. I'm afraid our walls are going to be covered from floor to ceiling in the prints I've found:) This one speaks to me...reminds me of how I'd go anywhere with Jacob and it'd be the best place ever:)

2
i just love dreamcatchers. That is all:)

3
i'm fortunate enough to be able to enjoy coffee with a few of my sisters a few mornings a week! I'm hoping we can move the party to my new house as soon as Spring shows it's face in WI and work a bit on some landscaping:):)

4
all SO very pretty!

5
this little number reminded me of one of my favorite bloggers - ohdeardrea:) And because of her, I now want a sparkly party of my own someday:)

these prints instantly stole my heart. Especially the "The Mountains Are Calling and I Must Go". Jacob and I both have a love for being out West...like...BIG love. Being out there just feels like home to us:)
With the recent purchase of our new home, I'm definitely finding myself drawn to more things related to home decor and these are now on the top of the NEEDS List for the new house:)

6
loving the colors. Overall, loving how I feel when I look at them:)

okay...now to get about 100 more important things done before Homer wakes!!!!:):) Good day followers!:)

real.inspiration.hope

sooooo...remember that amazing house we bought?!?! We still haven't moved in or anything. Not even close. BUT that doesn't mean a girl can't dream, right?!?:) SO this new post will be one of many over the next few weeks years months...and it'll include:

real: actual photos of the house - in it's current state

inspiration: photos/objects I've found that have inspired the future 'new' look of the room

hope: what I hope to make happen:)

first up...the Dining Room.
Both these photos are from the doorway of the kitchen. Straight ahead are the glass french doors (um, yes...SWOON!!!;) leading to the living room. And to your right is a built-in (um, SWOON...again;) that stretches across the entire South wall of the dining room.

 jaquilynshumate - found via Instagram

i actually found this photo yesterday and immediately sent it to my mom who had suggested we consider putting paneling up in the dining room. When she first suggested this I wanted to punch her in the throat made a face...BUT once I had this visual...I knewwwww it's exactly what we needed to do:) Good call mother;)

below is a rough (VERY rough) example of the possible height of the paneling. I'd like to have it a bit higher - more like the inspiration photo - but the current built-in is a bit lower and we'd sort of have to follow with those lines. We shall see.

SIDE NOTE: the paneling would all be solid wood and stained. NOT painted. We are actually throwing around the idea of painting the kitchen cabinets - the kitchen is a bit small (think Galley style) and so my dad's thinking is that by painting it a lighter color (not white), it will brighten it up in there.

POINT: i have been hesitant to consider painting the kitchen BUT with all this stained wood in the dining room...I feel like painting the kitchen may be a good possibility!

i'd love to have that buffalo print propped up on the ledge of the paneling on the North wall of the dining room. Which is where our current round wooden table would also be placed.

this wallpaper is an absolute MUST. My dad is not very supportive of 'wallpaper' but I'm gonna force him to help me make this happen;)
I think with the paneling coming up so far and only having the top portion of the room wallpaper-ed...it won't be SO "heyyyyyyyy...wall paper overload".

3 Pinterest inspired
Amazon suggestions: 1 - and no, we don't have $1500 in the budget for a drink cart;), 2, 3, 4 - my favorite out of the bunch
i've seen a lot of DIY drink carts lately and have fallen for them. I hope to jump on that bandwagon at some point. I'd rather find an old cart and fix it up, so that's been added to the Flea Market Wants List:)

so those are my thoughts...so far. And that's taken 1/2 the day to get down on this post and it still isn't PERFECT (notice the difference in color on that last photo...grrrr;). But I'm hoping to have all the kinks worked out by the time I move on to the next room!

SIDE NOTE: these are all justttttt ideas and I can promise you the finished product may look exactly opposite of this entire 'idea';)

be prepared to be bombarded with HOUSE posts as soon as we start the remodeling! You've been warned;)

hung...with care.

christmas is HAPPENING PEOPLE!!! Man, I love this time of year. I do I do!!!:)

i pulled the Christmas Totes out of the basement last night and Homer and I went through some things. The counter is covered in all things CHRISTMAS!!!! Unfortunately for Jacob, he was given no warning. He came home to Homer and I totally high on Christmasssssss;)

after reviewing our inventory...we realized we needed more...obviously. First thing on the list: a stocking for Homer.

now. Do we need to have all matching stockings?! I think I can live without us being matchy-matchy. At least for the time being. Maybe in a few years, when we decide 4 kiddos is enough (secretly 5 but I haven't broke the news to Jacob and don't plan to until I'm surprising him with an "we're accidentally pregnant with our 5th" announcement;) and put an end to our baby making days. THEN maybe I'll consider buying us all obnoxious, matching stockings;)

but for now I think it'd be great to just jump on Etsy and find something that seems cute for the kiddos as they come. This year: HOMER:)

these are all a bit plain...maybe not what you'd want for your kids but personalization is huge. Having Homer's name on the stocking is a must:)

my favorite are the last ones. Super cute. I think they're perfect for the kiddos and if this guy stays in business...I would love to order one for each of our future kiddos as they arrive:) I know that each of my sister's and I have our own stocking and have had the same stocking as long as I can remember. Except for that year mom lost mine and so I had a weird stocking that year.

worst.year.ever.;)

but tradition has always been something we cared about in our family and it's something I intend to bring into my own little family:)

and they will do it and they will like it;)

etsy friday.

i'm addicted to prints. I know, eventually, my walls will be COVERED. Top to bottom. Like so:

i'd like our walls - or a few of them anyways;) - to be a collection of art and prints and homemade treasures from throughout the years:)

because there's a baby.

funny when you get to a point in life when Friday and Saturday nights mean absolutely nothing to you;) I used to count down the minutes to Friday EVERY week. Starting Monday, I was sending out emails to see what we were going to do. Where we were going to go.

not so much anymore! That could have something to do with the fact that I'm 8-1/2 months pregnant. OR that I've matured a weeeee bit. OR that my work schedule has me working most weekends. Regardless...I'm not complaining:) I love that things have slowed down and that I have someone (Jacob) that feels just as content being home as I do:)

POINT: we finished the baby room this weekend! Feels good to have the 'majority' done. And I say majority cause there are a few things I still need to get:
1/ knobs for the dresser
2/ book stops for the baby's book collection
3/ a brighter light
OTHERwiseeeee. We're set:)

UP before

DOWN after

from day 1, our main goal has been to keep things simple. Low key. SIMPLE. And as you can see...it got full fast. But I really do love how it turned out:)

i hung a little mirror that Jacob's mom made us for Christmas.

UP before

DOWN after

while I was doing that...Jacob hung a rod and baskets that I had gotten from IKEA.

UP before

DOWN after

i really think these baskets are going to come in super handy. They are hung right next to the dresser...which will have the baby changing pad on it soon! Then things will be right within my reach when I'm on diaper duty:)

i also used some of the decor I had made for the Baby Shower to make a little mobile for the crib. Because I had the kiddo's help me make some of the decoration...I hated the idea of throwing it away.

i'm still not 100% sure it's working. Maybe it's a bit...too much!? Too...busy!? But Jacob liked it and I thinkkkkkk I like it too:)

UP before

DOWN during

UP/DOWN after

and that my friends was...part of our weekend. There was also walking, napping, swollen feet, workkkkkk:(, more napping and a large...large amount of panacake consumption:)

the rug.

so we got our second area rug in record time! A great deal...so no remorse here:)
But stilllllll not quite right.

UP the before...just the IKEA rug.

UP/DOWN here the kids and I got the Overstock rug unpacked and really liked how that looked but not how the IKEA rug looked layered....

UP/DOWN here is the Overstock rug holding it's own...and this I like. That's not to say I won't eventually layer something over it...but for now. It'll do:)

final thoughts: going to try and return the IKEA rug and then hunt down something for the baby room. Something simple...cream with some black. Maybe something similar to the West Elm one below:)

and now I'm spent on the rug situation and moving onto something else...post coming;)

in my cart...

below are things in carts...at stores...that I have been unable to commit too. Maybe today!?:)

West Elm - Jute Rug 8x10 $279
we're in need of an area rug for our living room. Wood Floored Living Room. I love our wood floors but I have plans on laying our baby in that living room and I'm guessingggggg wood floors aren't going to be too baby friendly at times?!
PS. how expensive are freaking area rugs?!?! ARG!!

in addition to the West Elm rug above, I thought we'd grab this little guy. When baby wants to hang-out on the floor, we'll put this down for some extra cushion and any other time...it'll (the rug:) lounge on the back of a chair:)
i found this adorable little deal through A Cup Of Jo (perfect site for all things good:). She mentioned that besides using it for your lips, it's also good for dry skin, sun burns and diaper rash. Um...GREAT to have in the purse or diaper bag:)
And because of the price...thought it'd be something I grab a couple of...an extra for me, possible gift for someone else!:)

put it up bold.

normally when I visit Style Me Pretty - daily - I see only wedding-ish inspiration. Today I'm taking away some home inspiration.

i realize that wallpaper is a bit bold. VERY bold maybe?! But I love it and if Jacob allowed me to cover a wall with it in our new home...I'd spend the rest of my life making it work:)

project no nap.

since quitting napping...a few days ago:) i've been able to be a bit more productive!!!

this is a bedroom vanity I got from a girlfriend...FOR FREE. Nice. The color is a really nice warm gray. Hard to see in these photos but it turned out so nice. It's very subtle but looks amazing:)

unfortunately, I forgot to take super early 'before' pictures but these will give you an idea of what I was working with.

DOWN my little bench....

drummmmm rollllllll......the finished product!!!! Looks super classy:) The only thing I'm going to do now is recover the seat but that will be for a different napless day!

do we like?!?!?:)
